I am planning a fundraiser, Snow Princess Pageants, for the Ronald McDonald House of Nashville. Iam seeking sponsors and donations to help with expenses of the event. The expenses include facility rental, insurance, food, crowns, flowers, and prizes.

The Ronald McDonald House is something that is very close tomy heart. My son was born with a heart defect in March 09 and we were introduced to the house while at Vanderbilt. We were fortunate enough to stay at the house during each of his surgeries.

100% of the proceeds of this event will go to the house. If you think you could help in any way please let me know and I will be glad to answer any questions you may have.

Calling all girls ages 5 to 13! I am directing this pageant for a fundraiser for the Ronald McDonald House of Nashville. After our recent stays with them, they have my heart. I was not able to fully comprehend Theo's condition until we were able to stay at the house. I had a place to recover and put my feet up after my c-section and it was place to go when Matt and I needed a mental break.
It is truly a blessing to families with children in the hospital. And I want to give back.
They operate on a donation basis and in this economy they need our help!

Theo's full TOF repair was October 8th; we are home and doing great. He should be released from the surgeon next week then we will have regular follow ups with the cardiologist.

The past seven months have been an emotional whirlwind. I have found strength and faith in myself I didn't know I had. At times Matt and I sat in the hospital room silent, but knowing what each were thinking. Worrying and praying for Theo's body to heal itself. We did find humor, one of the janitors told us she dropped her baby on his head a lot, but he had a "hard head". I wanted to ask how he is or what he's doing today. And there's the large lady at Vandy Cafe who had a beautiful weave with some pink streaks and lovely long matching fingernails, who was stocking the cooler. I guess it was hard work because she turned and sighed to me "OH, little baby Jesus whewwww!" All I could do was laugh.
Those mental breaks were much needed and it helped us realize that God was going to take care of Theo.

I wanted to share one of the verses that helped me stay at peace.
Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

I put this on a black tee and used multi colored pink stones. I can also do these on tote bags or anything you like!

We go through lots of formula cans around my house, and every time I throw one away I think... There has to be something to use that can for? So, tonight it came to me... ta da!

I used scrapbook paper from Stampin Up! to cover the cans then cut 3-15/16 circles to line the inside bottom. I had to piece one spot on the outside of the can because my paper was not wide enough. Used my cute butterfly punch to make some finishing touches and I love it... Instant storage!
I hope to make enough of these to achieve a honeycomb pattern.
You could glue them together in a pyramid form and sit it on your desk, use them as gift containers, or pencil holders... possibilities are endless!

A very inexpensive way to decorate and you can feel like you're green!

My little man continues to do well. He weighs close to 13lbs now and jumped from the -3rd percentile to the 9th percentile in two months! His o2 is 84 to 86, which is right on the line and worrisome for me. I know we are creeping closer to his surgery, and in ways I want it to come and go, so we can become a normal family. BUT, I know the worrying roller coaster we are going to be on and it's not fun.
I just have to keep telling myself God has it under control and will see us through.
We go to see the cardiologist on the 11th and will set his surgery date then.

Here are some pics from tonight's cereal feeding and after his bath.
I have been getting the question "Are you still doing shirts?" The answer is yes! but if I take an order it is on the understanding that something could happen and my son would naturally come first. I have some things already made up (which I'll be posting) and I just have to know your size or what you want it on. I am excited about them and I hope you'll like them too!

It has been forever since I last posted! Sorry! Here is an update...
Theo came through the cath procedure fine, some bloody stools delayed our departure from the NICU. We came home on April 10th. (the 10th is special for Matt and I... we started dating on April 10th, we got married on June 10th and God let us bring our baby home on the April 10th!) We got home and had weekly checkups with the cardiologist at VCH. At our week 3 check up his o2 levels were low and something was going to have to be done. At 6lbs he was too small for the full repair, so we opted for the shunt. The shunt would make a new passage for blood to flow from the heart to the lungs. We had to arrive at VCH May 1st at 630am for his surgery. I had no idea what a bad day it was going to be. The hardest part for me was handing him over to the nurse knowing what he is about to go through. Such a helpless feeling. We sat in the waiting room for hours, they called with updates and all was good. He was moved to recovery in the critical care unit around noon. We were unable to see him right away, they had to get him settled in. Granny and Pa and my dad were there with us and we all went to the cafe and had lunch. It was about another two hours before Matt and I could go back. When we got back there he looked so pitiful, swollen and hard to recognize. Matt and I talked to the nurse and decided we'd let our parents back to see him. My dad and I came back in and that's when I realized something was wrong. Three doctors were around his bed and they were not looking at me or telling me what was going on. The nurse said his o2 was dropping and she couldn't figure out why. Finally, one of the dr's said they were ordering an ultrasound to see if the shunt was functioning properly. Within 5 mins the tech was there doing the ultrasound, he could not find the shunt, the dr's tried and couldn't see it either. So, our option was to go in through his groin (the same procedure he had a month ago) to see if the shunt had clotted. If it had clotted, Theo would immediately go back into surgery to repair the shunt through his same incision under his arm. It was about 3 hours later when they called us to the consult room, the shunt was clotted and they did not know why. So, back to square one. My poor baby had to go through that rough surgery not once, but twice. God saw him through it and he recovered well, we came home on May 8th.
He is doing well and his levels are good. We keep him on an apnea monitor, it is a wonderful peace of mind so we can sleep. I took him for a weight and o2 check today and he weighs 9lb 11oz and his o2 was 94-96. We meet with the surgeon on Monday for a follow up. And his full repair is aimed for September if his o2 level stays up. The full repair will consists of going through the middle of his chest and repairing the pulmonary valve, pulmonary arteries, fix the large hole between the chambers, and thin out the wall of the heart. We need him as big and strong as possible.

I want to thank everyone who came to see us, mowed our yard, cleaned my house, brought food, left comments, sent a card, text, email, or just thought and prayed for us. In times like these you find out how good people are and how amazing family and true friends are.
God has his plan and we will make it through!

Our Theo was born March 18th weighing 4lbs 10oz and was 16.5" long.

I went for my regular appointment and ended up having a c-section that night.
At 37 weeks he is a small baby...Vanderbilt has decided the reason for his tiny size is that I unknowingly had inter uterine growth restriction.
And he was born with Tetralogy of Fallot, a heart condition that can be fixed with surgery.

Tomorrow they will do a procedure, that hopefully, will buy us some time where he can come home and go back when he is stronger for the full repair of his heart.

I ask you all to say a prayer for Theo and the doctors doing his procedure.

Princess Lauren turned 4 today!

Brandie requested a big colorful 4. I used large pink, orange, aqua, yellow, lime, and crystal stones on a hot pink shirt. It turned out great and I loved making it for her big day.

Emily and I dropped it off Saturday and I loved seeing Lauren's reaction from the bathtub! (she was getting her princess bubble bath for the father daughter dance!)

I am all for strengthening the safety standards of mass-produced toys, clothes, and accessories made in China, and banning toxins like phthalates and lead. But this year, congress passed the Consumer Products Safety Improvement Act, a law which goes into effect February 10, 2009 and will absolutely decimate the small toy manufacturers, independent artisans, and crafters who have already earned the public trust.

With this act going into effect February 10 2009 so many people we love will be affected: Moms who sew beautiful handmade clothing, artists who hand-carve trucks and cars out of natural woods, etsy and ebayers who sell children's dolls and jewelry--even larger US companies who employ local workers and have not once had any sort of safety issue will no longer be able to sell their goods. Not without investing tens of thousands of dollars into third-party testing and labeling, just to prove that toys that never had a single toxic chemical in them still don't have a single toxic chemical in them.

I am one of many who will no longer be able to sell my items intended for use of children 12 and under. I do currently use crystal stones, and everyone knows crystal contains lead. Even if I did switch to lead free stones such as, glass or acrylic the cost of third-party testing required on each item is into the thousands of dollars. Not being able to afford testing on each custom item I make it will be considered a felony for me to sell them and I would face a 5 year prison sentence along with a $100,000 fine. No thanks.

I hate this for all the stay at home moms who rely on their talents to bring in extra cash or who need it to pay bills. I hope none of them are forced to search for a job in this economy. Most importantly I hate that handmade items may disappear. It amazes me how talented people are and what they can make. Here are some pictures of items that will be affected.

Wanda's Stampin' Up!

I had such a good time last night. It was my first Stampin' Up hostess appreciation dinner hosted by Wanda Vaughan at The Cottage (I will never miss another one!). It was a big girls night filled with inspiring ideas, chocolate, and laughter. The food Diane Morton made was delicious and I do not know how Wanda found the time to make all our unbelievable goodies. My favorite was the Valentines cookie box filled with Diane's scrumptious sugar cookies. YUM!

My mind spins with ideas for hours after seeing all her creations. Wanda does this for all the right reasons. Each month she opens up her home for us to make beautiful cards and projects. I have learned so much from her and appreciate everything she does! Wanda, thank you & we love you!

As the New Year is upon us and I am catching my breath from Christmas. I have thought about all of the things I made in 2008. I thought about all the times I wondered "is this really going to look good?", "will they like it?" and of course all the times I got frustrated... because I spilt all those tiny rhinestones and had to pick them up one by one, when my hand would shake and I could not squeeze the tweezers anymore, when my eyes were crossing, and of course the most popular is, when I get mad because it isn't looking the way I want it to look. When that happens I put it down, probably make a frustrated grunt or scream noise, walk away, complain to my husband about some unrelated issue, and then I calm down and pretend I'm on Project Runway and hear Tim Gunn say "Make it work!". (Yes, I secretly want to be a designer on Project Runway and the only way I am going to get there is by pretending!) It may be a day or two later but, I go back to my table with a fresh outlook and I make it work.
I have made so many fun things for you this year and I have loved every one of them. I hope you enjoy wearing my eye candy as much as I love making it!

I am so blessed to have you all as friends and I look forward to what is ahead in 2009.

Autumn is my favorite season, the leaves, pumpkins, crisp air, apples, and another perk is Halloween.

Halloween is such a magical day. From the decorations to costumes, candy to the cute cards, ! love it all!

I usually dress up as Snow White and hand out candy. I love the looks I get, it's either cool or what a crazy lady!

My favorite costume growing up was a fairy outfit that I made. Matt and I had just started dating, I rushed to Wal-Mart after school and got my fabric, pipe cleaners for wings, elastic, staples, and white tights.

I cut the fabric into strips, tucked and stapled it onto a belt. Shaped the pipe cleaners into wings and attached the elastic. Put on my tank top, tights, and new skirt and wings and whoa la! I was a really cute fairy!

Mom or myself normally made my costumes, it is so funny to look back. I think for 3 years in a row I was a hobo, I got hung up on him. I am sure Tiffany remembers him... she was always a cute princess or Barbie and here I was stuffing my dads clothes with pillows! Tiffany, thanks for still going trick or treating with me even if I did look really wierd and had some trouble getting in and out of the car!

These pretties are my neices.

Emily is in the shrimp color and Hannah is in Black.

They participated in a fair pageant last night and I'm so proud of them. It was Emily's first pageant, we did not know what to expect out of her. She is very much a tom-boy who loves her animals and wants to be a vet when she grows up, is a cleaning freak (she cleans when she comes to Aunt Sue's house!), loves to organize, likes to stamp and make things, and has a very kind soul. So, when she said she wanted to do the pageant we said "OK Em, are you sure?" "Yes", she replied. She did not look back, and was just a little nervous before she went on stage. She came out of her shell and showed us her personality; she even gave us a beauty pageant wave when she left the stage. ;) Emily, you are so pretty! She will be turning 9 next week, Happy Birthday Em!

Hannah is 10.5 and loves to be on the go. She is captain of her schools clover leaf (quiz bowl) team, makes straight A's, watches The History Channel for fun, currently raising chickens for 4-H (that's a post in itself... started with 25 and has 8 left... poor chickens!), and she wants to be an Archaeologist. Hannah did great, looked beautiful, she made her turns correctly, smiled, and don't she look like a glamorous lady from the 40's?

I was completely honored when Keri Hertwig of Memories Bridal asked me to create something for Relay for Life. She sold these and I donated all proceeds to Relay. I wanted to make something personal for each person who was going to wear this. I did some research and found all the cancer colors. There are so many types of cancer, I could not use all the colors. I settled in and went to work... many, many hours later I had it. 11 colors representing Leukemia, Childhood Cancer, Ovarian Cervical, Lung, Brain, Breast, Bladder, Ovarian, Prostate, Renal/Kidney, and Pancreatic. Because breast cancer affects so many I placed pink at the top of the ribbon. As I was doing this I started to think about the people in my family who have been lost to cancer. My Grandfather died of Leukemia, my Uncle of Pancreatic Cancer, my grandmother of a Brain Tumor, and Great Aunts and cousins of Breast and Cervical Cancer.

They sparkle on my hat and I hope your family will sparkle on yours.

In between my orders I am trying some new stuff, for the summer I want to do more animals, insects, etc. I started with this alligator and I love this little guy! I named him Bob, he is emerald, lime, and yellow with blue eyes, he has crystal teeth and claws and some pink in his mouth. I put him on a tote bag and he has went to a good home. I hope he gets to travel a lot, Meredith!

I think they turned out great and I was so excited with the finished product. The pink tees are for the little princesses, the black is for the great mommy, and the white (my fav) is Bree's. I used different color stones so she could wear it with anything. I used pink, aqua, and peridot.

These were ordered through Memories for a Bride whose wedding colors were chocolate and pink. I will be doing more in chocolate and pink... i love it.

This past weekend I was privileged enough to be able to attend the National Association of Junior Auxiliaries annual education conference in Birmingham. Eleven members from our local chapter made the trip. The ladies I met are incredible and the things they do are unbelieveable. I was in awe... from the charity balls to the playgrounds for special needs children; there is nothing that Junior Auxiliary women can't do.
JA active, associate, and life members, thank you for your long hours and time away from your families. Because of you, we make a difference!

I made up some shirts to take to Birmingham, this was my best seller. It has the a five point crown which represents Charity, Youth, Health, Leadership, and Service.

Thursday I delivered 28 shirts to the PDA moms, grandmas, nanas, dancers, and sisters getting ready to go to the competition. This round we not only did moms, but we included everyone!

I was in such a hurry to get there on time I failed to take pics of all the shirts. (Matt called as I was packing the shirts and he was sick at work. With him working in a hospital they took him to the e.r.; needless to say it was not a fun night! But, he is better now.) So, if anyone has pics I would love to have them!

Alison asked me to make a shirt for her to wear to work. She told me she teaches language arts at Morrison and they are the Eagles. This shirt will be for after baby Channing arrives, so it gave some time to play and figure out what to do. (It took me a while :)) We emailed back and forth and this is what we came up with. It contains 3 different sizes that total 399 rhinestones. And the eagle was a first for me...he was not easy, I didn't want him to look too mean!
